Google’s search essentials

  1. People-first content

Helpful, reliable content written for people is the first of Google’s key best practices.

  2. The words people search

Use the words people would use to look for your content, and place them in prominent locations: the title, the headings, the first paragraph.

  3. Crawlable links

So Google can find your other pages. Google says it primarily finds pages through links from pages it already crawled.

  4. Titles and descriptions

A title that is unique, clear and concise, and a meta description that is short, unique and carries the page’s most relevant points.

  5. Alt text and readable URLs

Descriptive alt text on images, and URLs with words that are useful to a reader.

  6. One URL, well written

Each piece of content reachable at one URL, well organized, easy to follow, and free of spelling and grammar mistakes.

  7. Tell people about your site

Be active in communities where you can tell like-minded people about the services you mention on it.

What Google says

How Google finds pages
Google is a fully automated search engine whose crawlers explore the web constantly, looking for pages to add to its index.
Promotion
Promoting new content leads to faster discovery, by people interested in the subject and by search engines.
Links count twice
For the local listing, prominence counts how many websites link to your business, and your own site is where those links point.

What we do

  1. Blog SEO fields

The Rank Math trio for every post: focus keyword, title and meta description, plus the slug and the image alt text.

  2. Keyword in title and lead

Every post names the service and the town in its title and first paragraph.

  3. Link to the service page

We recommend linking each post to the service page it belongs to, so the pages support each other.

  4. WordPress connected once

An Application Password, and the blog channel publishes straight into the site, categories included.

  5. Keep the blog slot

A blog post is the one piece of content Google can rank on its own, so it is the slot to keep when time is short.
